Shadow Work - Mindfulness - Heart Centered
I take a spiritual approach to individual psychotherapy sessions. Each session is begun by entering sacred space together in whatever way feels the most comfortable for you, which creates a calm atmosphere for us to be able to dive deep into your psyche. We do this through a process many people in spiritual communities call "shadow work".
The term shadow work is an acknowledgment of the fact that we are beautifully imperfect human beings filled with light, darkness, and all areas of grey in between. Many people walk through life and choose to ignore their shadows. A lack of acknowledgment of our shadows can cause us to be ashamed of those parts of us, and shame often leads to depression, anxiety, and a myriad of other symptoms and disorders.
In our psychotherapy sessions together, we will explore your shadows and their origins. Sometimes they need to be embraced. Other times they need to be understood. And sometimes, we discover that they are not serving us anymore and need to be let go of so that you can live a more peaceful and fulfilled life.
Using Emotion Focused Therapy has allowed me to approach every session from a heart centered and intuitive place. When appropriate, we will use techniques from Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TFCBT) as well as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR).
